**Role Summary:** The Advanced Lead Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and support of Distributed/Remote Interface Units within the I/O and Control products area. The Advanced Lead Systems Engineer is expected to have or develop a broad and deep level of expertise that relates to the Distributed/Remote Interface Unit products. **Essential Responsibilities:** In this Advanced Lead Systems Engineer position, you will perform and provide technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of complex hardware / software for aviation-based systems. The Advanced Lead Engineer will demonstrate domain expertise and skills in Distributed/Remote Interface Unit products. You will provide technical guidance to other personnel supporting complex projects and or tasks with demonstrated leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. You will be performing in a role that requires strong analytical, problem solving, written and oral communication skills. The Advanced Lead Systems Engineer must be self-motivated, willing to learn, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively with others in a process-centric environment. In addition, as the Advanced Lead Systems Engineer, you will: + Maintain expert level of product knowledge and application + Articulate architectural technology and product positioning business, managers and technical staff + Collaborate with the development teams to establish solution architectures for our product suite and the needs of our customers + Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs / RFPs + Support activities with technical presentations, requirements definition, and architecture for proposals + Responsible for complete project execution of projects including scope, schedule, cost, technical, risk and quality + Act as a mentor for other team members ensuring the core team builds its strength + Listen to, understand and convey customer requirements + Provide technical oversight to ensure developed solutions satisfy customer and business requirements + Be a Technical leader for the projects across global cross-functional teams (Customers, product / program management, DTAs, RTMC, Safety and Applications engineering) assuring ?cradle to grave? success + Aid in the development of strategic roadmaps + Proactively initiate engagement with support groups for review concurrence and compliance in: + Hardware + Software + Quality Assurance + Safety + Reliability + Maintainability & Testability + Manufacturing and Test + Travel to project sites to perform on-site trobleshooting, integration, and support technical meetings. + Document all aspects of the project details and maintain a constant communication flow with support groups, management and executives to ensure all stakeholders stay current + Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives + Maintain professional business relationships within internal support organizations and target accounts + Provide status of ongoing projects and future projects + Responsible for other individuals within the organization and act as a mentor for other team members ensuring the core team builds its strength. + Identify customer's needs and sales opportunities to help future growth **Qualifications/Requirements:** + Bachelor?s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other technical / science discipline. + Minimum of 4 years of developing system architectures derived from customer requirements including military applications + Minimum of 3 years hands-on design, implementation, integration, testing, verification and experience involving; Avionics Engineering Systems, Hardware / Software Engineering, and/or Electrical Design + Minimum of 2 years of detailed involvement in the Distributed/Remote IO and Controls product strategy **Desired Characteristics:** + Self-starter with the ability to lead the effort with minimum supervision + Experience working in systems including; A664, ARINC429, A629, A615A, IEEE1394, RS485, A825, Discretes, Synchro/LVDT/RVDT, Voltage/current/impedance sensors and effectors, + Background in System Design and Validation on systems involving Microprocessors and Data Concentration + Avionics experience + Hands-on capability to handle test equipment and tools (DOORS, RCT/RDB, RACE, ACT), scripting languages (VAIS, Python, DXL, Visual Basic, ), and Excel data manipulation aspects (Condensing large amounts of information) + Knowledge in Avionics Systems and Aerospace Operating Practices + Understanding and translating customer requirements for Applications development for software solutions + Experience with DOORs Requirements Management Tools, and RTC/Dimensions Defect Tracking + Experience with System Testing Processes, Tools, and Automation + Ability to implement customer and industry standards + Ability to work in a cross-functional, global environment + Ability to engage and build positive relationships with both customers and internal and external employees + Strong oral and written communication skills + Strong interpersonal and leadership skills + Understanding of engineering standards including; ARP-4754, DO-178, and DO-254 + Customer Technical Interface experience + System Project Estimation and Bidding Experience + GE Aviation NPI, SYSPRO, SWPRO, and HWPRO extensive Knowledge **About Us:** GE (NYSE:GE) drives the world forward by tackling its biggest challenges.
