STD Claim Support Specialist

Job Location: Virtual but commutable to the MetLife Tampa, FL office

Role Value Proposition:

Ensures that the team achieves or exceeds its business objectives in the areas of Claim Management Accuracy, Customer Centricity and Expense Management. Sets clear expectations of performance according to the MetLife vision and holds the team accountable to those expectations. Ensures that team has the knowledge, skills, and tools to be successful and provides support as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable to review and approves key decisions made by team member(s) within authority limit including Financial base benefit amount up to $15,000 per week per claim decisions offsets in accordance with Customer s plan/policy
  • Drives Claim Management Accuracy and Customer Centricity through support of the Pre-QA Program, claim file reviews and call monitoring auditing claim file reviews to identify improvement opportunities, skillset gaps, trends for quality, service and/or compliance. Identifies and facilitates and claim discussions on highly complex claims with the appropriate resources
  • Identifies barriers to the success of the team or the individual by working with the STD Unit Leader to analyze, identify and implement strategies to enhance claim management, customer centricity and efficiency of their team.
  • Ensures team manages overall STD block of claims and possible companion claims to include Statutory plans, Federal, Company, State and other Leave types as required by our group customers or other Federal, State, Local laws
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required

    Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills, Required:
    • A comprehensive understanding of the disability contractual provisions, especially the definition of disability
    • STD and Family Medical Leave Act claims knowledge
    • Balances task work while adapting to change and exploring new innovative ideas
    • Ability to prioritize and maintain quality
    • Strong partnership skills with all levels of the organization
    • Strong customer satisfaction focus
    • Motivated by their interactions with others and ability to work independently
    • Quickly grasps information and efficiently solves verbal challenges with strategic thinking
    • Communicates complex verbal and written concepts with ease
    • Pays close attention to details, and accounts for details that may be overlooked
      Key Competencies, Qualifications and Skills, Preferred:
      • Associate Degree or higher
      • 5 plus years of claims management experience preferably in Healthcare field
      • Proficient with Microsoft office software
